Little Free Library Now Open at Dig It Kingman Community Gardens

Little Free Libraries are all over the world and now there is one in front of the Dig It Kingman Community Gardens located at 2301 Lillie Avenue, west of Cecil Davis Park.  The small, front yard book exchanges number 60,000 worldwide. Our Little Free Library doesn’t just belong to us, it belongs to the whole city,” says Kathy Cooper, Little Free Library Monitor.  “It’s our hope that this LFL will bring a little more joy, a little more connection and a whole lot more books to our community.”

A Little Free Library is a neighborhood book exchange where anyone passing by can Take a Book and Return a Book for someone else to use.  While the majority of Little Free Library are in the United States, the book exchanges can be found in over 60 countries around the world. You can learn more about Little Free Library at littlefreelibrary.org.  The website has a map of all the Little Free Library in the world and now Kingman is on the map twice.  Bullhead City also has one.  All neighborhoods are encouraged to install a neighborhood library.

The first Little Free Library in Kingman began in July of 2017 and it is located at 3650 N Canary Lane.  Harley Thurber, 11 years old discovered the Little Free Libraries throughout neighborhoods in Corona Hills, CA while visiting his Grandmother last summer.  When he returned home, he decided to design and install his own LFL in front of his house to share books with his neighborhood.  Harley’s Little Free Library and the Dig It Kingman Community Garden’s Little Free Library welcome all to come and Take a Book and Return a Book!  Please join the movement to share books, bring people together and create communities of readers. If you have books to donate, please call Kathy Cooper at 928-716-2667 for a pick-up.

The Dig It Kingman Community Gardens will have a “Little Free Library Welcoming Day” at their Dig Dash-Shamrock Run on Saturday, March, 17, 2018.  Hope you can join us!
