What is a Communal Garden Plot?

A communal Garden Plot is a space within the community garden where residents of the community who do not own their individual garden spaces or beds can come together to work for the good of the community.  Our communual plot at DIG it will be located in a fenced area near the rear of the garden.  It will contain raised garden rows.  Our plan is to have the communual garden spot up and running by the end of April 2016.  This first year we plan on growing such vegetables as okra, peppers, squash, eggplants, and corn.  We will donate a large portion to the local food banks and missions.  The remainder will go to the participants that have worked to grow and harvest the bounty.  This will be a fun and worthwhile endeavor.  Stay tuned for emails and more information coming soon.  Take a look at some photos below of other communal gardens.
